Georgy Borisенко, Deputy Foreign Minister of Russia, and Ahmed Al-Saati, Foreign Minister of Bahrain, emphasized the importance of achieving diplomatic solutions for regional crises during their recent meeting. This meeting was held as part of the two countries' efforts to develop friendly relations and bilateral cooperation in various fields.

Emphasis on International Law and Common Interests

In this meeting, the two senior diplomats referred to the necessity of a political resolution to the current crises in the region based on international law and respect for the legitimate interests of all countries in the region. They also highlighted the importance of freedom and security of international shipping, which is particularly significant in the current circumstances facing security challenges.

Advancing Agreements and Bilateral Meetings

The two sides discussed the agreements made during the visit of the Russian Foreign Minister to Manama on October 18, 2026. This visit aimed to expand the friendly relations between the two countries and to follow up on regional developments. The ninth meeting of the Foreign Ministers within the framework of the strategic dialogue between Russia and the Arab states of the Gulf Cooperation Council was held on October 18, 2026, where international and regional issues, including the situation in the Persian Gulf, were discussed.

Following this meeting, Sergey Lavrov and Abdullatif bin Rashid Al-Zayani, the Foreign Ministers of Russia and Bahrain, emphasized in a phone conversation on October 27, 2026, the importance of continuing international efforts to reduce tensions and resume negotiations between the United States and Iran based on the Islamabad understanding.

The Situation in the Strait of Hormuz and Its Security Implications

Since the onset of the military aggression by the United States and the Zionist regime against Iran on February 28, 2026, the Strait of Hormuz has faced serious disruptions in commercial shipping and increased security risks. The Islamic Republic of Iran has repeatedly emphasized that the root of insecurity in this strategic waterway is due to the military aggressions of the United States and the Zionist regime and the continuation of the illegal maritime blockade of our country.

Ismail Baqai, spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran, stated that reopening and securing the Strait of Hormuz will not be possible without ending the maritime blockade and fulfilling Iran's legitimate demands. Major General Mohsen Rezaei, representative of the Supreme Leader and Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council, also provided details about his meeting with Vladimir Putin, President of Russia, at the end of his visit to Moscow and emphasized the seven conditions communicated to the Americans.

According to Rezaei's statements, as long as the Americans do not comply with these seven conditions, not only will the Strait of Hormuz not be opened, but there will also be no negotiations. The current diplomacy is aimed at securing Iran's rights and changing the behavior of the Americans.
