Saudi Arabia has recently announced that it will respond decisively to the Houthi attacks from Yemen, which have been carried out using ballistic missiles and drones. These attacks, which have occurred in recent days due to renewed clashes in Yemen, injured 13 Saudi citizens.
Escalation of Clashes in Yemen
The Houthis have been engaged in renewed fighting with government forces backed by Saudi Arabia since July. During this time, the group has announced that it has launched new attacks on Saudi ships in the Red Sea and has gained control over the Red Sea coasts and the Bab el-Mandeb Strait. These developments come as the U.S.-Iran war exerts pressure on the Strait of Hormuz.

The Houthis have also attacked Saudi Arabia's oil infrastructure, which is the largest exporter of crude oil in the world, causing oil prices to rise above $100. On Monday, a Houthi attack in western Yemen resulted in the deaths of eight government soldiers. The group has also reported a major attack on King Khalid Air Base in Khamis Mushait.
Saudi Arabia's Response and Future Threats
Saudi Arabia has responded to yesterday's attacks with over 50 airstrikes. The Saudi-led coalition has emphasized that it will respond to these attacks "decisively" to maintain the kingdom's sovereignty and will take "all necessary practical measures" to curb this hostile approach.
While Saudi Arabia continues to carry out airstrikes in Houthi-controlled areas, it has yet to succeed in stopping the rapid attacks from this group. Mohammed bin Salman, the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia, is expected to have talks with Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, the President of Egypt, on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, Hazem al-Asad, a member of the Houthi political office, recently stated that "the Yemeni response will continue and escalate as long as Saudi Arabia continues its aggression against our people." These clashes in Yemen have intensified as the regional war remains at a stalemate.
On Monday, the United Nations Migration Agency announced that as a result of recent clashes in one of the poorest Arab countries, 93,864 people have been forced to leave their homes. The international community remains concerned about the humanitarian situation in Yemen and emphasizes the need for peace talks.
