Shreyas Iyer, captain of the Indian national team, after his team's 14-run victory over the West Indies, highlighted the performance of his bowlers and also praised the brilliance of Prince Yadav in the final moments of the game, which played a decisive role in the team's success.
Key Role of Prince Yadav
Despite a 108-run partnership between Abhishek Sharma and Ishan Kishan for the second wicket, India found itself under pressure due to frequent wicket losses in the middle. However, Prince Yadav with 13 runs and Arshdeep Singh with 11 runs in the final moments brought India to a total of 223 runs. Despite powerful hits from Shimron Hetmyer in the last over that resulted in 22 runs, India managed to win by 14 runs, and these runs from lower-order players gave India an unexpected and very useful advantage.

Iyer's Analysis of Team Performance
Shreyas Iyer commented on the bowlers' performance after the match, saying: "Their performance was outstanding. When the bowlers were at their best, they had high confidence, and it was clear what they wanted to execute. This clarity was evident in my interactions with them. Each of them was ready to take on the challenge, and that is what we are looking for."
He also mentioned the partnership between Abhishek and Ishan, stating: "It was an amazing start from Abhishek - those crucial runs in the powerplay. We know what he can deliver, and Ishan is currently in very good form. Also, despite losing wickets, we never let the West Indies back into the game and stabilized the situation in the middle. This brought us to a respectable total of 223. Even Prince helped us a lot with those useful shots at the end."
Future Challenges and West Indies Captain's Analysis
Iyer also emphasized the high quality of the West Indies' bowling attack and noted that this team can be a game-changer, stressing the importance of staying positive and active against them.
On the other side of the field, Shai Hope, captain of the West Indies, who scored only 5 runs in this match, said that the game depended on very small details. He felt that his team could have performed better with the ball and missed fewer deliveries. Hope stated: "Small details can be decisive moments, whether due to losing the line or because the winning team faces the losing team. Therefore, we could have probably done a little better with the ball and perhaps utilized the pitch better and saved a few runs that we easily lost."
