India's initial public offering (IPO) market is heading towards its third consecutive successful year and has maintained its strength despite stock market fluctuations. In the third quarter of 2026, companies raised over $9 billion through IPOs, marking the highest figure for this period.
Increase in IPO Activities
This amount of capital raised has brought the total investment in IPOs for 2026 to over $13 billion, placing the market on track for one of its best years. IPO activities have gained momentum after a relatively slow start to the year, particularly due to large offerings from companies such as the National Stock Exchange of India, SBI Capital Markets, and Manipal Health. These three deals alone have raised over $4.3 billion.

Challenges and Opportunities
Despite high volatility in India's stock market and declining investor sentiment, strong demand from domestic investors and institutions has continued to support new listings. The NSE Nifty 50 index has dropped approximately 13% this year, placing India as the second-largest underperforming stock market after Indonesia.
Samart Jagnani, CEO and Head of Global Capital Markets for India and Southeast Asia at Morgan Stanley, stated, "While market volatility may affect the timing of individual deals, the underlying drivers of activity remain intact." With this strong trend continuing into the final quarter, it is expected that capital raised through IPOs in 2026 will exceed $20 billion.
Several other large offerings are also in the pipeline, including the sale of shares in Jio Platforms worth over $3.1 billion and the IPO of Awada Electro valued at $800 million. This long queue allows investment banks to make significant predictions about issuances in the final quarter and possibly early 2027.
Currently, around 144 companies have received the necessary approvals to launch IPOs, and 73 other companies have submitted their drafts to the regulatory authority and are awaiting approval. Bankers expect that some of these companies will be able to obtain the necessary approvals in a timely manner, thus propelling India's IPO market towards another exceptional year.
