The agreement and memorandum of understanding signed between "GMF AeroAsia" and the Oman Civil Aviation Authority, along with the agreement between GMF AeroAsia and the global company "MASH Aerospace" at the investment forum of this organization, is considered an important step towards strengthening the aviation sector of the Sultanate of Oman. These agreements aim to localize global technologies and enhance national capacities in engineering, maintenance, and production of aircraft parts, in line with Oman Vision 2040 and the National Aviation Strategy 2040.
Transformation in Oman's Aviation Industry
Dr. Abdullah bin Masoud Al-Harthy, Chairman of the Board of "MASH Aerospace Global," emphasized that this partnership represents a transformation in the path of Oman's aviation industry from transportation services and operations to an integrated system that includes maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO), engineering training, and the production of aircraft parts and structures. In an interview with Oman News Agency, he stated that the goal of this partnership is to create a sustainable industrial and technical base that combines the experience of GMF AeroAsia with the investment and local development of "MASH Aerospace Global."
Future Plans and Economic Impacts
Dr. Al-Harthy added that preliminary, technical, and regulatory work for the tire and brake center has begun and is being prepared for the next phase. Meanwhile, efforts are underway to establish an aviation engineering academy that will include programs, curricula, facilities, and necessary accreditations, with gradual implementation starting in 2027.
He also noted that the project for constructing structural frameworks is the largest and most advanced project within this system, and its execution is expected to take between 12 to 18 months from the completion of final requirements. Initial estimates indicate that the total investments required for the implementation of these projects will be around 25.4 million Omani Rials (66 million US dollars).
Dr. Al-Harthy emphasized that the selection of the Sultanate of Oman as the location for these projects is due to its strategic position between Asia, the Middle East, and Africa, advanced infrastructure, and a favorable investment environment. The National Aviation Strategy 2040 also emphasizes private investment and the development of air services.
