Omar Patricio, Director General of the Arab World Foundation in Angola, considers Sultan Haitham bin Tarik's visit a milestone in bilateral relations and the culmination of a tangible process in recent years. He emphasized that this visit provides new opportunities for creating a new phase of cooperation between the two countries.
He also pointed out that the energy and mining sectors are currently witnessing significant movements, especially with practical steps in investing in the Catoca and Luile diamond mines. The African Bank of Oman, as a financial tool, can help facilitate trade and investment exchanges between the two countries.
Patricio also mentioned opportunities for cooperation in the logistics sector, which could be facilitated through potential connections between Omani ports, including Duqm, Sohar, and Salalah, and Angolan ports in Luanda and Lobito. Given the increasing international interest in the Lobito corridor, there is potential for growth in the volume of trade exchanges between the two countries.
In the cultural field, the Arab World Foundation in Angola is working to strengthen the connection between the Lusophone world and the Arab world. According to Patricio, the royal visit of Sultan Haitham is an opportunity to enhance this connection not only in economic fields but also in language, culture, and mutual understanding between the people of Angola and Oman.
Felician Dias dos Santos, an expert in economic and international relations, also emphasized that the timing of this visit is at a stage where Angola is moving towards diversifying economic partnerships and expanding international relations based on mutual interests. He added that Oman can serve as a gateway for Angola to the Arab world and the Gulf region, while Angola provides Oman access to the African market and its natural resources.
He emphasized that the economic and geographical potentials of the two countries provide multiple areas for cooperation. He also noted that high-level visits can help translate existing diplomatic relations into practical cooperation projects and programs.
Angolan media have also highlighted the importance of Sultan Haitham's visit in advancing bilateral relations towards broader areas of cooperation. In this regard, the Angolan news agency reported that this visit is part of strengthening bilateral relations between the two countries and contributes to the continuation of the understandings achieved in recent years.
