The U.S. government announced on Friday that its military forces have carried out a new round of limited strikes on Iran's military facilities, particularly its air defense systems. Donald Trump, the President of the United States, described these actions as "limited."
Details of the Military Strikes
According to published reports, the sound of two explosions was heard in the Sousa area on Qeshm Island, located in the Strait of Hormuz. This strait, known as one of the vital oil transport routes, has experienced disruptions since the start of the U.S. war against Iran last February. Trump stated in an interview with reporters, "They had built a small air defense system, and we destroyed it in about 15 minutes, maybe 5 minutes."

Political and Diplomatic Impacts
Friday's strikes were the first military action by the U.S. following the midterm elections in the United States, in which Trump's Republican Party faced a significant defeat. This electoral loss, stemming from voter dissatisfaction with the management of the Iran war and high fuel prices, has impacted political tensions in the United States. Trump has also fluctuated between threatening "destruction" of Iran and hinting at the proximity of an agreement to end the war.
The existing differences between Iran and the United States regarding the nuclear program remain a key issue, and Trump has emphasized that this matter should be part of any agreement to end the war. The U.S. Central Command, which oversees U.S. military operations in the Middle East, stated that the United States is seeking information about Iran's nuclear program and is offering a reward of up to $20 million for information related to its nuclear facilities and equipment.
In recent days, diplomatic contacts between leaders of Gulf Cooperation Council countries and other regions have been ongoing to reduce tensions. Additionally, U.S. Secretary of Defense Peter Hegseth spoke on Friday with his Qatari counterpart, Sheikh Saud bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, about current developments. Qatar is acting as a mediator between the United States and Iran in efforts to end the war.
