Sultan Haitham bin Tarik and President Xi Jinping of the People's Republic of China held extensive official talks this morning at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing as part of the Sultan of Oman's official visit to China.

Review of Bilateral Cooperation

In this meeting, the two leaders reviewed the existing areas of cooperation between the two friendly countries and discussed ways to strengthen this cooperation, particularly in the fields of technology and innovation, artificial intelligence, energy, renewable energy, manufacturing, logistics, digital trade, and food security. They also emphasized the importance of enhancing integration between economic regions and ports.

The Sultan of Oman spoke at this meeting, highlighting the importance of the two countries' relations. He expressed his pleasure at being in China, describing it as a civilizational and human bridge between East and West, and thanked the warm hospitality of the Chinese people.

Investment Opportunities and Trade Agreements

Sultan Haitham bin Tarik also emphasized the development of cooperation between investment institutions and financial entities, exploring new opportunities for establishing and developing strategic partnerships. He announced that Oman is ready to sign a bilateral trade and investment agreement with the People's Republic of China. This agreement could pave the way for the development of trade and investment and commercial exchange between the two countries.

The Sultan of Oman also appreciated China's governance model, considering it a successful model in transforming the country into a global economic power. He emphasized that human development should be at the center of this process and that this model should be free from any political agendas and attempts to dominate other countries.

Given its geographical position and maritime routes, Oman offers significant advantages for connecting global markets and supply chains through its ports and economic zones. The Sultan of Oman also referred to China's Belt and Road Initiative and Oman's Vision 2040 as frameworks that provide extensive opportunities for interaction between the development programs of the two countries.

The rapid global development and challenges related to climate change, food and health security, and supply chain stability highlight the importance of trust-based partnerships. The Sultan of Oman emphasized that development and stability are interdependent and require a secure, peaceful environment that respects national sovereignty for the progress of nations.
