The Sultanate of Oman, representing the Omani Handball Federation, will host the third stage of the fifth edition of the Beach Handball World Championships on December 4 and 5, 2026. This event will take place on the sandy courts of the Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex in Bousher, and it is expected to witness the participation of outstanding teams from around the world.

Participating Teams in Men's and Women's Sections

In the men's section, four teams including the Sultanate of Oman (host), Germany (world champion), Croatia (winner of the global stage in Zagreb), and Poland (runner-up of the global stage in Płock) will compete. As a result, Germany has been introduced as the world champion and will participate in this stage.

In the women's section, teams from Argentina (world cup champion), Portugal (winner of the global stage in Zagreb), and Germany (winner of the global stage in Płock) will participate. Additionally, another team that has not yet been announced will soon be added to the list. The participating teams will arrive in Oman on December 3.

The Significance of This Event for Oman

This hosting is considered an important milestone before the Beach Handball World Championships for men and women in 2028 in Dhofar Governorate. This opportunity will help Oman gain more experience in hosting international competitions and enhance its technical and organizational capabilities, preparing it better for hosting this global event.

The first stage of the Beach Handball World Championships was held on April 30 and May 1 in Zagreb, the capital of Croatia, with four teams participating in both men's and women's sections. The Croatian team became the champion in the men's section, while the Portuguese team was recognized as the champion in the women's section. The second stage of this competition was also held on June 13 and 14 in Płock, Poland, where the German team became the champion in both sections.

Hosting the third stage of the World Championships in Muscat reflects the growing international confidence in Oman's capabilities to host major sporting events. This event will also contribute to enhancing the readiness of national teams and sports staff for the Beach Handball World Championships in 2028.
