The United States conducted limited attacks on Qeshm Island in the Strait of Hormuz on Tuesday. These recently reported attacks followed President Donald Trump's announcement regarding diplomatic progress with Tehran. According to Iranian state media, the attacks included five explosions within a short period, which have significantly raised concerns and tensions in the region.
Description of the Attacks and Reactions
Reports indicate that U.S. officials have described these attacks as defensive. However, these attacks are considered the latest instance of several unannounced strikes. The aim of these attacks is essentially to prevent the perception that Washington intends to resume major military operations. The U.S. Central Command has not responded to inquiries regarding this matter.

While the United States, along with Israel, had initiated a war with extensive attacks on Iran in late February, it seems that the country has not achieved its objectives and the war is at a stalemate. On Monday, Trump hinted at the possibility of reaching an agreement with Iran, stating, "Iran wants a deal as soon as possible."
Diplomatic Talks and Iran's Positions
Abbas Araghchi, Iran's Foreign Minister, announced that indirect talks are underway. He added, "Given the sensitivity and seriousness of the current situation, consultations and negotiations are intensively ongoing." Additionally, Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf, the Speaker of the Islamic Consultative Assembly, emphasized that Iran is prepared for war but has given a "logical response" to Washington.
According to Qalibaf, "The ball is now in America's court to prevent war." These remarks come as oil prices dropped more than seven percent on Monday due to optimism regarding the potential end of this war.
Joe Biden, the Vice President, has also stated that he and Trump are optimistic about reaching an agreement, adding, "We have certainly made progress. We need to see if we can achieve further progress." China has also called for a return to diplomacy, and Iranian officials have discussed this conflict with Vladimir Putin, the President of Russia.
Iran has also announced that it is ready to reopen the Strait of Hormuz within two days if Washington agrees to its demands. Last week, Iranian officials proposed a seven-day plan to reopen the strait, which included ending the war and releasing Iranian assets.
Finally, Mohammad Reza Aref, Iran's First Vice President, stated that the messages received from Washington are "recognition of our victory." This comes as Iranian officials have warned about the consequences of continuing the war, and Tehran officials have installed a large banner in the capital stating: "We will kill Trump."
