Turkey's defense industries are moving towards achieving the $20 billion target by signing contracts worth $15 billion in 2026. Haluk Gorgun, the head of Turkey's Defense Industries Organization, reported significant advancements in this industry at an event in Bursa.
Increase in Contracts and Orders
Gorgun announced at the event that Turkish defense companies have signed $15 billion in new contracts this year, and backlogged orders with domestic suppliers have exceeded $13.4 billion. These figures indicate remarkable growth and improvement in the defense industry in Turkey.

Growth of Turkey's Defense Exports
Gorgun also pointed to the rapid growth of Turkey's defense exports compared to the country's overall statistics, explaining that Turkey's defense exports generate about 40 times more revenue per unit weight of goods than the national average. This indicates Turkey's desire to reduce dependence on foreign suppliers and enhance its domestic capabilities in military equipment production.
In recent years, Turkey has significantly expanded its defense industry and made substantial investments in the domestic development of drones, missiles, and other military equipment. This approach has not only helped meet domestic needs but also significantly contributed to increasing exports and presence in foreign markets.
Given these developments, it seems Turkey is on the path to becoming one of the major players in the global defense industry. With technological advancements and increasing demand for military equipment, it is expected that this industry will continue to grow and achieve greater success in the coming years.
