Vladimir Putin, the President of Russia, on Thursday, during a speech to attendees, appreciated Narendra Modi's efforts, the Prime Minister of India, to end the conflicts in Ukraine and stated that he has good ideas for achieving a peaceful solution.
Emphasis on Friendly Relations
Putin said: "Prime Minister Narendra Modi is one of those global leaders who, despite having friendly and good relations with us, always asks about ending the conflict in Ukraine." He added that Modi is actively seeking acceptable solutions for the parties involved.
Appreciation for Modi's Efforts
The President of Russia elaborated on Modi's interest and good ideas in finding mutually acceptable solutions, stating: "Naturally, the Prime Minister has a neutral position, but with an interest in ending the conflict. I must say that we are grateful to the Prime Minister for his ideas."
Putin also expressed appreciation for Modi's willingness to end this conflict through peaceful means and as soon as possible. He added: "We are thankful for his willingness to resolve this crisis through dialogue and negotiations."
Narendra Modi has previously emphasized the need for peace and stated that India has always maintained a principled and humanitarian approach to the Ukraine crisis.
The Prime Minister of India, in an interview with a Japanese media outlet in August, stated: "India has maintained a principled and humanitarian stance towards this conflict, which has been appreciated by both sides, namely Vladimir Putin and Volodymyr Zelensky." He also added that both leaders have shared their views on developments related to this conflict with him.
In response to the question of what role India will play in the peace efforts between the two countries, he said: "I have previously expressed India's willingness to support meaningful efforts to achieve a peaceful solution." He believes that given India's good relations with both sides, efforts to establish lasting peace in Ukraine can be strengthened.
Narendra Modi and Vladimir Putin met last September on the sidelines of the 18th BRICS summit in New Delhi and discussed strengthening trade relations, including the implementation of the 2030 economic cooperation program, as well as collaboration in infrastructure, energy, technology, defense, and culture.
