Volodymyr Zelensky, the President of Ukraine, announced in his nightly speech that he will travel to Turkey to hold important negotiations. These talks are seen as part of diplomatic efforts after more than four and a half years of war with Russia.
Details of the negotiations in Turkey
Zelensky stated that these discussions are related to the resumption of negotiations scheduled for next month. He remarked: "Important negotiations will take place in Turkey. We are also striving to take advantage of all available diplomatic opportunities."
The President of Ukraine expects that in November, there will be an opportunity to make progress towards formats that have long been under discussion. These statements reflect Ukraine's determination to advance negotiations and improve the situation of the conflicts.
Planning a meeting with Erdogan
According to the announcement from the Turkish President's communications office, Burhaneddin Duran, Zelensky will meet with Recep Tayyip Erdogan in Istanbul on Saturday. This meeting is considered an important step towards facilitating negotiations to end the war.
This week, Zelensky also expressed hope that a trilateral meeting among peace negotiators from Ukraine, Russia, and the United States will be held in Abu Dhabi between November 6 and 10. He emphasized that Kyiv seeks European participation in these discussions to end the war.
Turkey's role in facilitating negotiations
Turkey has repeatedly offered to act as a mediator in negotiations to end the war. Ukrainian and Russian officials have met several times in this country since Russia's invasion of Ukraine in 2022. These meetings are aimed at reviewing peace processes and finding effective ways to reduce tensions.
It seems that Turkey, as a key player in the diplomatic arena, is striving to create an environment for constructive dialogue and assist both parties in reaching a sustainable agreement.
