Police Response and Security Situation
The police officer, identified by the initials 'D.S.', used his weapon after the attack, firing several shots at the assailant and killing him at the scene. According to the Belgrade Public Prosecutor's Office, this action by the police has been recognized as legitimate self-defense, and investigations are ongoing.
Minister Dačić also reported an increase in the security threat level in Serbia to the highest possible level and announced that more police forces would be deployed in key areas of the city. Meanwhile, a student movement in Serbia has challenged the country's former leader, Aleksandar Vučić, in the elections held on Sunday, but the current government will remain in power until a new government is formed.
