Abdolnaser Hemmati, the Governor of the Central Bank, emphasized the necessity of discipline and transparency in banking transactions at the unveiling ceremony of the Hesam system and stated that the goal is to reduce the number of bank accounts from 650 million to 300 million. He clarified that this action could improve the financial status of banks and help combat money laundering.

The Impact of the Hesam System on Financial Transparency

Hemmati said at the ceremony: "The more we advance towards discipline and transparency in people's banking transactions, the more positive results we will achieve." He believes that by using the Hesam system, suspicious transactions can be reduced and the creation of rental accounts can be prevented. This system allows people to easily close their excess accounts and thus contribute to improving the health of the banking network.

Dismissal of Banking Officials and Disciplinary Follow-up

Hemmati further referred to the dismissal of 11 branch managers who played a role in creating proxy accounts and unauthorized financial activities, stating that serious follow-up will continue for disciplinary action against these individuals. He added: "These individuals were trying to disrupt the currency and money market with their activities."

The Governor of the Central Bank also pointed to the people's need to reduce the number of bank accounts, saying: "Currently, we have 650 million bank accounts, and if we divide that by the number of account holders, we see that it is very high compared to global standards." He noted that the average number of bank accounts in the world is less than two, and stated that the goal of this program is to reduce the number of accounts to 300 million within a two-year period.

Hemmati estimated that in the first phase, 100 million accounts will be closed and said: "The establishment of this system is a further step towards financial discipline for banks." He urged people to visit the Hesam system to close accounts they no longer need and facilitate this process.
