Algeria and Kuwait are working on launching direct flights, a topic raised on the occasion of the sixty-fourth anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries. This initiative, according to Algeria's ambassador to Kuwait, Abdelkarim Belhaj, reflects a high level of relations between the two countries, resulting from the strong political will of their leaders.

History of Algeria-Kuwait Relations

Belhaj referred to the historical foundations of this relationship and recalled Kuwait's official and popular support for Algeria during the freedom revolution. He stated, "The relations between Algeria and Kuwait are rooted in deep history and fraternal ties," adding that the two countries have maintained ongoing consultation and coordination to develop their cooperation.

Algeria's Solidarity with Kuwait

Regarding the regional situation, Belhaj emphasized Algeria's solidarity with Kuwait against targeted attacks on this country. He stated that Algeria has repeatedly declared its "firm rejection of any violation of Kuwait's national sovereignty and territorial integrity and the security and safety of its citizens." He also called for respect for state sovereignty and territorial integrity, as well as dialogue and peaceful solutions to overcome regional crises.

The Algerian ambassador also congratulated the community of Algerians residing in Kuwait and wished that members of this community have a comfortable residency, assuring that the embassy will continue its work to facilitate their affairs. He also referred to President Tebboune's special attention to Algerians living abroad, which includes monitoring concerns and responding to developments affecting their situation and addressing their demands.

Belhaj highlighted the historical significance of the November 1 revolution in Algeria, stating that this uprising marks a turning point in Algeria's history, ending more than 130 years of French colonial rule and guiding the country towards independence and its right to self-determination. He reminded that this revolution came after decades of resistance against French occupation and the bloody events of May 8, 1945, during which more than 45,000 unarmed Algerian protesters were killed by French forces.

Belhaj added that Algeria ultimately achieved independence after a revolution that lasted more than seven years and claimed the lives of 1.5 million martyrs. He emphasized that the Algerian revolution has become a source of inspiration for nations struggling against colonialism and liberation movements.
