The exhibition "Light from the Past" at the Kuwait Museum of Modern Art, featuring prominent artists from Egypt and Kuwait, aims to explore and strengthen the cultural ties between the two countries. This exhibition has become an opportunity for cultural and artistic exchange, especially considering the rich artistic and cultural works of both nations.

Artistic Works and Deep Messages

Basma Al-Abasri, an Egyptian artist, has depicted a Kuwaiti lantern in one of her works using acrylic colors. She considers this piece a symbol of light and hope that time cannot extinguish. She stated, "Kuwaiti heritage can express various emotions for an artist, regardless of their background." The artist also referred to two other works where she explores the characteristics of her late parents. These works reflect her deep connection to the past and the remembrance of memories.

Strengthening Cultural Ties

Musad Mohammed Zamel Al Zamel, Deputy Secretary-General of the Arts Sector at the National Council for Culture, Arts, and Letters, emphasized the importance of such gatherings in strengthening relationships between people through artistic expression and cultural cooperation. He said, "Today, creative minds and the pens of artists have come together again to produce amazing works that depict the richness of the shared artistic cultures of Egypt and Kuwait."

The Egyptian Ambassador to Kuwait, Mohamed Gaber Mohamed Abu Al-Wafa, also referred to the role of different generations of artists and intellectuals in enriching Arab cultural life and emphasized that culture and art are fundamental pillars of these enduring relationships. He stated, "Culture and art serve as a bridge between our two brotherly nations, providing a common space for expressing shared values and human experiences."

Mayal Nouri, a Kuwaiti artist, has showcased two works titled "Joy" that describe the closeness of families and happy moments among sisters. She said, "These paintings represent family gatherings and closeness among relatives, and I created these works while experimenting with dot painting techniques."

Elie Bou Chaya, a Lebanese artist, presented three different works at this exhibition. She initially spoke about what art can offer during difficult times, stating, "In times when we live with anxiety and unpleasant news, art is the best form of meditation and therapy for the nerves." One of her works explores Arabic calligraphy and refers to the concept of heritage and national identity.
