Nawaf Al-Ghareeba, a Kuwaiti composer and conductor, performed the symphony "Orbis Luna" on Saturday evening with the Vanguard Symphony Orchestra at the Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Cultural Center's Sheikh Jaber Al-Ali Theater.

An Effort to Enrich Kuwaiti Culture

This concert is part of the efforts of the National Council for Culture, Arts and Letters of Kuwait to enrich the cultural and artistic scene of the country and to provide a platform for creative works that offer a blend of tradition and innovation, helping to create new audiences for orchestral music.

On this night, "In the Moon’s Orbit," Al-Ghareeba's first major symphonic project, which has been developed over the years, was showcased. The program included his Violin Concerto No. 1, accompanied by soloist violinist Salma Sorour, as well as his Symphony No. 1 titled "Hope," which is inspired by the movements and cycles of the moon and its contrasts between darkness and light, motion and stillness, and presence and absence.

A Project with Deep Roots

This concert is based on a project that began with a live recording in Cairo in January with the Vanguard Symphony Orchestra and was then presented to audiences in Kuwait. The Cairo Orchestra includes professional musicians from several Egyptian music groups, and its repertoire spans from classical to contemporary music.

Nawaf Al-Ghareeba began playing the piano at the age of eight and has since explored various instruments, including didgeridoo, hand drums, and Chinese gongs. He studied at the Higher Institute of Music Arts in Kuwait and holds a master's degree in composition from the University of Southampton in the UK. He is currently pursuing a PhD in music composition in Cairo, where he also teaches composition, harmony, and orchestration.

His works include complete orchestral pieces, solo songs, and music for visual media, drawing inspiration from various musical cultures and traditions.
