Chris Bowen, Australia's Minister for Climate Change and Energy, will soon travel to India and Saudi Arabia to enhance the country's fuel security and collaborate with international partners on global energy security. This trip aims to address global challenges and secure sustainable energy resources.

Meetings with Indian Officials and Visit to Jamnagar Refinery

During the trip to India, Bowen will meet with his ministerial counterparts and visit the Jamnagar oil refinery in Gujarat, which is recognized as the largest oil refinery in the world. These meetings are intended to strengthen cooperation in clean energy and electrification. Bowen will also participate in a roundtable with representatives from the clean energy industry and will speak about electrification and the importance of renewable energy for the future of global energy security.

Direct Talks with the Saudi Energy Minister

After India, Bowen will travel to Saudi Arabia to have direct discussions with Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman Al Saud, the Minister of Energy of the country, regarding the changing global landscape, including the closure of the East-West pipeline and its impacts on global energy security. This meeting aims to address the challenges facing energy security internationally and secure sustainable resources for Australia.

The minister emphasized the importance of this trip, stating: "What we are seeing in the Middle East is extremely concerning, and now more than ever, Australia needs to collaborate with other countries on energy security and fuel. This is in line with our national interests." He also stressed that Australia's fuel supply remains secure and that strong relationships with international partners are essential to these efforts.

The Australian Department of Climate Change and Energy has stated that international conflicts and energy-related challenges must be addressed to improve energy security both domestically and abroad. As a leader in negotiations at COP31, Australia will play a significant role in strengthening global energy security.
