Britain reported "strong evidence" indicating Iran's involvement in a suspicious plot against RAF Fairford airbase, which is considered one of the bases used by the United States Air Force for operations against Iran. These statements were made by Andy Burnham, the Prime Minister of Britain, on Wednesday.

Arrest of Five British Men

In an incident that prompted widespread police reactions and raised concerns among Western allies, five British men were arrested late last week on charges of terrorism and explosive offenses near RAF Fairford in western England. These individuals, all residents of London, were released on bail after some time.

Iran's Role in Investigations

Burnham stated in an interview with the media: "There is strong evidence that shows Iran was involved in what happened at RAF Fairford over the weekend, but this remains a complex and serious police investigation."

Following these statements, Iran strongly denied any involvement in the incident and responded to reports regarding its potential involvement. The Prime Minister of Britain also announced that his country is closely cooperating with the United States, which has used bombers from this base for operations against Iran in recent months.

After the arrests, Donald Trump, the former President of the United States, stated that these men had planned to cause "significant harm," and Marco Rubio, the former Secretary of State, referred to a "foreign actor."

The police investigation includes examining the possibility of foreign involvement and whether this incident may involve "aware or unaware" representatives acting on behalf of a foreign country.

The police also announced that fuel was found in the vans used by these individuals, but no improvised explosive devices were discovered. This comes as the police defended their decision to release these men on bail in response to criticisms from some, including Trump.

In connection with this matter, a report from The Times revealed that one of the men had contacted emergency services prior to the arrest. The report stated that it is still unclear whether this call was for surveillance, security testing, or sending a message to the British government.
