The allocation of 20 million Omani Rials (OMR) to the development program of the technical and vocational colleges system for the period 2026 to 2030 indicates a strategic approach to strengthening educational and professional infrastructure in Oman. This initiative aims to prepare and train national workforce to meet the needs of economic and professional sectors.
Special Attention from the Ministry of Labor to Technical and Vocational Colleges
The Ministry of Labor in Oman has announced that the technical and vocational colleges sector is giving special attention to the development of the education and training system, striving to ensure that this system meets the future needs of the labor market. In the first half of 2026, these colleges implemented 71 training programs and courses, serving 1,062 participants. Additionally, five cooperation programs with relevant entities were signed, and six organizational policies were approved to enhance the educational environment and strengthen organizational partnerships.

Human Resource Development and Professional Validation Activities
The Ministry of Labor also announced that the activities of the human resource development sector in the first half of 2026 included several areas such as organizational structure and job classification, human resource development, and professional validation. In this context, 1,462 requests for hiring, status change, and service transfer were processed. Furthermore, 1,014 transactions related to job classification and 423 transactions for settling employment statuses were completed.
The Ministry of Labor also conducted 66 studies and organizational projects aimed at developing organizational structures and improving the job classification system. These efforts contribute to enhancing the efficiency of task and responsibility distribution and optimizing the use of human resources.
In the area of professional validation, the Ministry of Labor announced that 83,000 professional licenses were issued and 350 professions were approved under the professional validation system. These actions are part of ongoing efforts to regulate professional activities and enhance the quality of skills in various occupations.
In addition, 13,246 jobs were linked to the national competency framework, which has been implemented in 24 government entities. These actions help align jobs with the necessary skills and competencies and develop human resource management tools.
The Ministry of Labor also processed 917 cases through the "Collection" system, which helps provide services and meet the needs of 12,607 beneficiaries. In total, 3,823 employees benefited from awareness workshops on job performance, while 541 employees participated in the organizational excellence system.
The Ministry of Labor announced that it is currently implementing programs to strengthen performance culture and organizational development, and is taking steps to utilize modern technologies and artificial intelligence programs to improve the work environment and performance efficiency.
This ministry is also advancing the "Credit Validation for Professional Diploma" project, designed to enhance trust in educational programs and support the quality of educational outputs.
The progress rate of the private education system development project has reached 23%, and the progress rate of the investment environment improvement project has reached 10%. These efforts are part of the Ministry of Labor's actions to develop the private education sector and strengthen it in providing the skills and competencies needed in the labor market.
