The total value of fish caught in Oman reached 320.795 million Omani Riyals (OMR) by the end of June 2026, compared to 316.112 million Omani Riyals during the same period in 2025, showing an increase of 1.5 percent. This information is based on preliminary statistical data published by the National Center for Statistics and Information of Oman (NCSI).
Details of Catch Volume
The total volume of fish caught through traditional fishing, coastal fishing, and commercial fishing reached 468,407 tons, compared to 469,175 tons at the end of June 2025, recording a slight decrease of 0.2 percent. Regarding the different types of fishing, the volume of traditional fishing decreased by 0.3 percent to 416,683 tons, compared to 418,133 tons last year.

Role of Provinces in Fishing
The Al Wusta province leads the provinces of Oman with 149,434 tons of catch. Following that, the South Al Sharqiyah province recorded 115,055 tons, and the North and South Al Batinah provinces together recorded 51,721 tons. Additionally, Dhofar province with 49,865 tons and Muscat province with 25,995 tons are also included in this list. Musandam province is at the bottom of this list with 24,612 tons.
Increase in Commercial and Coastal Fishing
In contrast, the volume of commercial fishing increased by 1.4 percent to 46,232 tons, which is significant compared to 45,616 tons last year. Moreover, the volume of coastal fishing also increased by 1.2 percent to 5,492 tons, compared to 5,426 tons in 2025, indicating positive growth.
Diversity of Caught Species
Regarding the species of fish caught through traditional fishing, small pelagic fish topped the list with 206,913 tons. Following them, large pelagic fish with 127,831 tons and demersal fish with 65,194 tons are in the subsequent ranks. Other unclassified species with 11,389 tons and sharks with 2,974 tons have also been added to this list. Finally, the volume of crustaceans and mollusks recorded the lowest amount at 2,382 tons.
