Msheireb Properties, as one of the pioneers of sustainable real estate development in Qatar, achieved two gold medals at the Smart Built Environment Awards 2026. These awards were granted for Msheireb's efforts in heritage preservation and sustainability, including a carbon reduction strategy across more than 100 buildings. Additionally, Msheireb Downtown Doha was nominated as one of the six finalists in the urban environment category of the Vertical Urban Development Council (CVU).

Effective Steps in Heritage Preservation
This year's award was given to Msheireb Museums, which includes four heritage houses in the oldest neighborhood of Doha: the Bin Jalmood House, the Company House, the Mohammed Bin Jassim House, and the Radwani House. These houses have been restored using carefully selected materials and in accordance with international restoration standards, now narrating Qatar's social history from the heart of a modern city.
The Carbon Neutrality Champion of the Year award was granted to Eng. Faisal Al Malki for leading Msheireb Properties' carbon reduction strategy. This strategy, considered the first of its kind in Qatar, encompasses over 100 buildings, 800 residential units, and 300 commercial spaces, aiming to reduce greenhouse gas emissions across all three areas of the Greenhouse Gas Protocol (GHG Protocol). This strategy aligns with the Science-Based Targets initiative (SBTi).
The awards were presented on October 15 at the Versace Palace in Dubai during a ceremony organized by Built Environment Middle East, honoring winners in 31 different categories. The winners were selected by an independent jury of industry experts.
Eng. Faisal Al Malki stated: "This achievement reflects the efforts of the teams that bring Msheireb Downtown Doha to life every day. Sustainability is not only defined by design but is also realized through decisions, actions, and continuous improvements that shape daily operations. Our journey in carbon reduction relies on using data to achieve measurable results across buildings, and we work closely with our tenants. This recognition of Msheireb Museums alongside this award signifies the synergy of innovation and heritage that defines our vision for the future."
The Vertical Urban Development Council (CVU), previously known as the Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat, honored Msheireb Downtown Doha with its excellence award, recognizing it as one of the six finalists for the urban environment award. This recognition was recently made at the VU 2026 summit in London, where the jury reviewed various projects from countries including the United Kingdom, Canada, Thailand, Singapore, and China. In total, 73 projects, concepts, and initiatives from 20 countries were recognized at these awards.
