The International Conference on Computing and Data Analysis (ICCAD), hosted by the Dhofar University of Technology and Applied Sciences in Salalah, concluded on Thursday with the presentation of six key recommendations. This conference served as a platform for discussion and exchange of ideas regarding the challenges and opportunities facing technology and data in today's world.

Key Recommendations of the Conference

The recommendations presented at this conference included strengthening cyber resilience by accelerating the adoption of zero-trust architecture and preparing for post-quantum encryption in Oman’s institutions and infrastructure. This approach is designed to protect information and critical infrastructure against cyber threats.

Another recommendation emphasized ethical artificial intelligence and academic governance. This recommendation includes developing transparent policies for disclosing the use of artificial intelligence in higher education institutions, promoting information technology literacy among faculty members, and managing risks associated with unauthorized information technology.

Agricultural and Health Technologies

The conference also addressed the provision of agricultural technologies adaptable to climate change. These technologies included expanding the application of digital twin models to improve the management of water needs for crops and support food security in arid regions. In this regard, the adoption of innovative technologies in agriculture is essential to tackle challenges arising from climate change.

In the healthcare sector, it was recommended that privacy be maintained using homomorphic encryption and federated learning to enable secure analysis of clinical data across multiple medical centers. These measures can lead to improved quality of medical services and enhanced patient experience.

Other recommendations included edge green computing and the use of radio frequency energy harvesting techniques, model reduction in Internet of Things devices, and optimizing charging structures for electric vehicles. These actions contribute to reducing environmental impacts and enhancing sustainability in the use of technologies.

Ultimately, the conference's recommendations emphasized knowledge transfer between industry and academia. Allocating funding to business incubators to convert academic simulations and theoretical prototypes into viable commercial solutions was proposed as a key action in this regard. This approach can strengthen connections between academic and industrial entities and enhance innovation in Oman.
