Kuwait Diving Team warns sailors
The Kuwait Diving Team has warned boat owners and sailors about unstable weather conditions in the Al-Ahymar season, which started in mid-November and will last for about 40 to 45 days. Walid Al-Fadhil, head of the diving team, stated that this season brings sudden and dangerous weather changes, with winds from the northwest or west sometimes reaching 80 to 120 kilometers per hour, and sudden high waves can capsize fishing boats.
Al-Fadhil urged sailors to avoid boating at night unless authorities confirm stable conditions and to stay away from areas with strong currents, such as Ras Al-Ard, Ras Al-Jala, and Ras Al-Zour. He also emphasized that most of the boat capsizes in Kuwait, past and present, have occurred during this season, and urged boat owners to check their safety equipment and follow weather news before heading out to sea.
