Muscat: On the occasion of Omani Women's Day, the Sultan Qaboos Higher Center for Culture and Science at the Royal Court of Oman held a specialized meeting titled "The Role of Omani Women in Shaping the Cultural Scene of Oman." This event examined the role and contributions of Omani women in shaping and creating the cultural scene, producing knowledge and creativity, preserving and developing cultural identity, and participating in cultural projects and activities.
The Role of Women in Omani Culture
This session was supervised by Sayyida Wafa Hilal Al-Busaidi and attended by several prominent female figures in the fields of literature, culture, and art, as well as specialists in museums and antiquities and members of specialized institutions and cultural projects. The aim of this meeting was to introduce the diverse and active experiences of Omani women in the cultural scene, discuss the transformations in the role of women and their prominent status in the cultural landscape, as well as their role in preserving Oman's cultural identity and presenting it in a contemporary manner.
Interaction and Discussion in the Meeting
This session was characterized by significant interaction among the attendees, which included several active figures in cultural management, leadership in cultural institutions, and museum management. This interaction enriched the dialogue, expanded the dimensions of discussion, and facilitated the exchange of ideas and viewpoints. Given the recent developments in Omani society and the increasing presence of women in various fields, this meeting served as a platform to examine the challenges and opportunities facing women in the cultural domain.
The Sultan Qaboos Higher Center for Culture and Science, as the supporting body for this meeting, depicted the role of women in cultural and civilizational developments and examined how to enhance this role in the future. This meeting was somewhat representative of the growing attention to issues related to women and their role in shaping the culture and art of Oman and is considered an important step towards increasing public awareness and enhancing the status of women in Omani society.
