Hosseini Mousavian, former Iranian nuclear negotiator, expressed his views on the ongoing crisis between Iran and the U.S., nuclear negotiations, and the security situation in the region in an interview with one of the Arabic television networks. He emphasized that there is no military solution to this crisis, reaffirmed Iran's readiness for negotiation, and stated that Iran will never surrender.
Iran's readiness for negotiation and Gulf security
Mousavian addressed the future of Iran's nuclear program and the potential consequences of a military attack on the country during this interview. He discussed the necessity of forming a joint military force among regional countries to ensure the security of the Gulf and the Strait of Hormuz, stating: "Iran is ready to return to the same Islamabad agreement that was signed between the presidents of Iran and the U.S. and to start negotiations."

He also clarified that Iran has no demands beyond this agreement and attributed the current deadlock to the U.S.'s failure to adhere to its commitments. Mousavian said: "If someone is to be held responsible for the current deadlock, that responsibility lies with Washington, which has not remained committed to its signature."
Broken trust and upcoming challenges
Mousavian further analyzed the current situation, stating that the main problem today is not the nuclear issue, but the lack of trust between the two countries. He added: "Iran and the U.S. previously reached an agreement in the JCPOA, which was signed by all global powers. However, the U.S. withdrawal from the agreement and its failure to adhere to previous agreements has severely damaged the trust between the two sides."
He also pointed out that Iran has always adhered to the Non-Proliferation Treaty after the Islamic Revolution and has never intended to build a nuclear weapon. Mousavian noted that the increase in oil exports from the Strait of Hormuz after the war has been due to the U.S. military presence in the region, and this situation cannot be permanent.
Ultimately, Mousavian emphasized that Iran has been able to withstand U.S. economic pressures and has adapted to living under sanctions. He urged American officials to return to the diplomatic path instead of threats and war, and to adhere to previous agreements.
