Eskandar Momeni, the Minister of Interior of the Islamic Republic of Iran, announced after a meeting with Ilham Aliyev, the President of Azerbaijan, that an agreement has been reached to draft two cooperation documents between the Ministry of Interior of Iran and the Ministry of Interior and the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Azerbaijan. This agreement aims to enhance relations at all levels between the two countries.
Implementation and Follow-up of Previous Agreements
In this meeting, held on October 12, the topics related to the implementation of agreements reached during the meeting of the Presidents of Iran and Azerbaijan in Turkmenistan were discussed, and the President of Azerbaijan issued the necessary directives for the implementation of these agreements. Relevant officials were also designated to follow up on these agreements.
Momeni emphasized the necessity of developing cooperation between the two countries in various fields, noting that in the past decade, there has been no bilateral travel and interaction at the level of the Minister of Interior between the two countries, and for this reason, many topics had accumulated for follow-up and discussion in this meeting.
Planning for Drafting Cooperation Documents
The Minister of Interior of the Islamic Republic of Iran further stated: The President of Azerbaijan has issued the necessary directives to the Minister of Interior and the Minister of Emergency Situations of that country to strengthen cooperation. Momeni emphasized that there are no limitations for enhancing relations between Tehran and Baku, and cooperation must be developed in all areas.
He also announced plans to draft two cooperation documents, stating: One document is to be prepared between the Ministry of Interior of Iran and the Ministry of Interior of Azerbaijan, and another document between the Ministry of Interior of Iran and the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Azerbaijan to increase interactions between the parties.
In this meeting, topics such as border crossings and trade-related issues were also on the agenda. The Minister of Interior described the meeting as positive and very constructive, expressing that the desire to enhance relations at all levels, both in Iran and Azerbaijan, is clearly evident.
