The agreement between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Sultanate of Oman regarding safe maritime routes has been concluded after weeks of negotiation and review. This agreement is seen as an important step towards strengthening security and safety in maritime navigation between the two coastal countries, contributing to improved relations and regional cooperation.
Negotiations and Achievements
The spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs regarding this agreement stated: "This matter pertains to the interests and responsibilities of both countries and takes into account sovereign rights and all aspects related to maritime security." He added that this agreement was supposed to be presented in a meeting with the presence of regional countries and could serve as an opportunity for direct dialogues among regional countries on common issues.

Baqai continued: "If we believe that neighboring countries should come together to create a safe and stable region, we should not easily miss these opportunities. On the other hand, reports have emerged regarding Saudi Arabia's request to postpone this meeting, but what matters to us is the essence of the issue and the necessity of continuing regional dialogues."
Existing Challenges in the Region
The spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs referred to developments related to Yemen and stated: "The issues in Yemen have complex roots, and resolving them requires a political process and dialogue among the relevant parties." He also emphasized the readiness of the Islamic Republic of Iran to assist in resolving regional issues, stating: "The continuation of war and tension in the region is not in the interest of any country and only creates grounds for the intervention of foreign actors."
In response to a question about external pressures on Iran to cancel or postpone the meeting, the spokesperson said: "The agreement between Iran and Oman is final, and based on necessary consultations, we will decide on the timing of its announcement." He also referred to criticisms regarding the Ministry of Foreign Affairs' performance on this issue, stating: "Critiques should be based on accurate information and an understanding of the complex realities of decision-making in foreign policy."
Ultimately, Baqai noted: "Preserving the interests and rights of the Islamic Republic of Iran and strengthening security and stability in the region are our priorities, and the agreement between Iran and Oman has been made in this regard." These statements reflect the determination of the Islamic Republic of Iran to continue regional cooperation and dialogues in order to achieve peace and stability in the region.
