Iran emphasizes that only diplomacy can end the crisis with the United States and Israel, after Donald Trump, the President of the United States, rejected this country's proposal for reopening the Strait of Hormuz and ending the conflicts.

Iran's Conditions for Reopening the Strait of Hormuz

Abbas Araghchi, Iran's Foreign Minister, said in a message on social media: "Our conditions are clear, and any action towards reopening the Strait of Hormuz is conditional upon meeting these conditions." He added: "Only a negotiated solution can get them out of this deadlock." Last week, Iran announced a peace plan at the United Nations General Assembly in New York, stating that this plan was conveyed to the Americans through Qatari mediators.

On Saturday, Trump announced that he had rejected the plan and stated that the Iranians are seeking an agreement regarding this key waterway due to their unfavorable situation. He told reporters: "They want an immediate agreement to reopen the Strait of Hormuz because they are losing badly." However, Araghchi stated that the mediators have not yet officially communicated the rejection of this plan to Iran.

Impact of Sanctions on Negotiations

The United States has imposed severe economic sanctions on Iran to pressure the country to end its attacks on ships in the Strait of Hormuz. These attacks have led to a significant reduction in maritime traffic in the region, while Trump repeatedly claims that the United States has control over this waterway.

Reports indicate that Trump has privately expressed doubts about whether Iran will respond to his demands and has told his staff that a renewed bombing campaign is likely after the November midterm elections. An American official had previously stated that negotiations with Iran through mediators have been "positive and constructive."

Diplomatic Challenges and Global Consequences

The conflicts have also had serious impacts on oil supply and the global economy. In an interview at the United Nations, Araghchi stated that the proposed agreement could initiate a seven-day countdown for reopening the Strait of Hormuz and stopping regional conflicts. He emphasized: "If the United States is serious about reaching an agreement and reopening the Strait of Hormuz, everything is ready now."

Iran has also been engaged with its Saudi rivals over the Strait of Hormuz, highlighting the significance of this seven-month conflict. This conflict has severely impacted oil flows and the global economy, resulting in the deaths of thousands.

Iran and its allies have targeted U.S. and Saudi interests by escalating this conflict throughout the region. Meanwhile, Iran's President, Masoud Pezeshkian, stated in an interview that Tehran is ready to discuss its nuclear program and other issues, but will never submit under pressure and threats.
