Israeli airstrikes in the Gaza Strip on November 2 resulted in the deaths of at least four Palestinians and injured several others. Health officials in Gaza reported that two people died in two separate airstrikes in Khan Younis, located in the southern part of the strip, and six others were injured. Additionally, another person was killed in an Israeli airstrike on the city of Al-Masdar.
Details of the Airstrikes
Israeli military forces stated that they conducted two strikes in the strip targeting Palestinian militants, but did not provide further details on this matter. Following these attacks, another airstrike targeted a vehicle in the Tal Al-Hawa neighborhood of Gaza City, resulting in one death and several injuries. Background of Tensions and Their Consequences
Israel claims that the militant group Hamas is rebuilding weapons and conducting attacks in violation of a year-long ceasefire. Meanwhile, Hamas has denied this claim and accused Israel of undermining the peace agreement for Gaza. The ceasefire between Israel and Hamas, brokered by the United States, calls for the reconstruction of the Gaza Strip, but agreements for disarming Hamas or withdrawing Israeli forces from the area have not been reached.
Currently, nearly two million residents of Gaza are living in difficult conditions, with most residing in the ruins of war, in temporary tents, and damaged buildings. Meanwhile, Hamas still maintains effective control over most of the strip.
Since the ceasefire began, at least 1,580 Palestinians have lost their lives in Israeli attacks on Gaza, while Israel has reported that four of its soldiers have also been killed. Palestinian officials acknowledge that more than 74,000 people have died in Israeli attacks on Gaza. These attacks began after Hamas-led fighters killed around 1,200 people in southern Israel on October 7, 2023.
