Kuwait Foreign Petroleum Exploration Company (KUFPEC) recently announced that its subsidiary, KUFPEC Malaysia Ltd, has signed a series of agreements with TotalEnergies, PTTEP, and Petronas to develop the Lang Lebah (SK410B) and B14 gas fields located off the coast of Sarawak, Malaysia.
Development of Gas Fields and Strategic Collaboration
KUFPEC noted that these agreements represent a significant strategic step towards strengthening collaboration among the partners of this project for the development of gas assets. This collaboration will help optimize resources, accelerate the development process, and create sustainable value.
The agreements include changes to the participating shares under the development programs. According to these agreements, upon completion of the necessary stages, KUFPEC will hold a 25% stake in both fields, TotalEnergies will have 30% as the operator, PTTEP will hold 25%, and Petronas will have 20% of the participating shares. These agreements are also subject to regulatory approvals and customary completion conditions.

Issa Al-Muraghi, CEO of KUFPEC, stated that this partnership aligns perfectly with KUFPEC's strategic direction to attract a global operator to expedite the development of these promising assets and maximize their value. He also emphasized that collaboration among partners will ensure the optimal utilization of Malaysia's gas resources and meet the interests of all parties involved.
KUFPEC, as a subsidiary of Kuwait Petroleum Company (KPC), is seeking to explore and produce oil and natural gas outside Kuwait and has a diverse portfolio in several countries. These agreements clearly demonstrate Kuwait's determination to expand its international activities and secure sustainable energy for the future.
