National Anti-Corruption Strategy
Bouyabas further stated that Kuwait has completed the first phase of its national strategy to promote integrity and combat corruption and is now working on the second phase of this strategy in line with Kuwait Vision 2035 and sustainable development goals. He emphasized the importance of exchanging positive experiences, increasing capacity, and utilizing review results to develop national policies.
He also referred to recent developments in legislation and institutional building related to the fight against corruption. For instance, Law Decree No. 78 of 2026 addresses business concealment, where a business is registered in the name of one individual but is managed by another. Additionally, Law Decree No. 79 of 2025 pertains to international judicial cooperation in criminal matters. Law Decree No. 69 of 2025 amends certain sections of Law No. 2 of 2016, which established the Nazaha authority and set financial disclosure rules. These measures will strengthen the national system and international cooperation against transnational crimes and asset recovery.
Kuwait's Commitment Emphasized
Bouyabas emphasized Kuwait's commitment to this convention and its will to continue active participation in the review mechanism. He expressed hope that Kuwait will also support international efforts to develop this mechanism and enhance its impact.
