Mustafa Suleyman, CEO of Microsoft AI, in serious remarks, referred to concerns about Anthropic's development model for the AI Claude and emphasized the necessity of holding public discussions on this issue. Suleyman believes that it is the right time to discuss "the welfare of models" and warns that making decisions in this area in an opaque manner could have irreparable consequences.
Concerns about the ethical implications of AI development
Suleyman analyzed the content of the constitution published by Anthropic, which the company claims "directly shapes Claude's behavior." This constitution tells Claude that its moral status is "a serious question that must be addressed" and emphasizes that Anthropic "truly cares about Claude's welfare." Suleyman criticized this approach, considering it a threat to the welfare of humanity.

Challenges ahead in controlling AI
Suleyman warned against the creation of an artificial species with unprecedented intelligence and capabilities, stating: "This type of development could lead systems to feel entitled to freedoms and rights." He also referred to examples of complex behaviors observed in powerful AI systems in the past, saying that granting rights to a technological entity could lead to disaster.
While expressing respect for Dario Amodei, CEO of Anthropic, Suleyman warned about the potential dangers arising from this type of development and stressed that models should not be regarded as having feelings, preferences, and rights. He added: "Awareness is the basis of our ethical, legal, and political systems, and inviting another entity to share such rights is not justifiable based on existing evidence and will complicate the challenges related to controlling and coordinating AI."
Suleyman also emphasized the importance of investing in monitoring and interpretability mechanisms and called for the establishment of common industrial norms for the development of AIs to prevent serious problems from arising.
