Nasser Saleh Al-Attiyah, six-time Dakar champion and newly crowned Middle East Baja Cup champion of the International Automobile Federation (FIA), confirmed in Qatar that he will participate in the International Baja Oman race taking place from December 17 to 19. This race is considered the first Baja-type event in Oman and will be held under the supervision of the International Automobile Federation and the International Motorcycling Federation (FIM).

Planning for Inclusion in the 2027 Sports Calendar

The Baja Oman race is specifically being considered for inclusion in the 2027 sports calendar, with its date set as the third round of the Middle East Baja Cup from November 4 to 6, 2027. Nasser Saleh Al-Attiyah, who is currently preparing in Dubai for the final round of the regional championship series, announced that he will compete in this event with the Taurus T3 Max in the FIA Challenger category.

This champion of 21 regional rally competitions also holds the record for 9 victories in the International Oman Rally, which is considered one of the most popular events in the FIA Middle East calendar. He stated: "I have been very busy these days with several other events ahead, but I wanted to participate in Baja Oman. Oman is a candidate for next year, and I promised the organizers that I would come in December to support this event."

The International Baja Oman race will take place alongside the last three days of the Badiyah Sand Festival, which runs from November 19 to December 19 in the Badiyah Wilayat of the North Sharqiyah Governorate.
