On Wednesday, the United States targeted companies and individuals from India and Turkey with new sanctions due to their connections with Iran. The U.S. Department of the Treasury announced that these sanctions are part of the "Economic Expulsion Operations" program aimed at cutting off Iran's financial resources to prevent funding for the war against this country.

Details of the Sanctions

These sanctions include individuals such as Sunil Kumar Sharma and his wife, Jaspreet Preeti Shahid, as well as two other Indian citizens who are responsible for two businesses linked to this couple. The department also imposed sanctions on nine entities associated with Sunil Kumar Sharma. According to the Treasury Department, these individuals have assisted the Iranian regime by providing fake flags and documents to sanctioned vessels carrying Iranian oil.

Economic Consequences

Last week, the U.S. Treasury Department announced that its actions have severely weakened Iran's economy, causing the value of the Iranian rial to reach its lowest level. Iran's domestic inflation rate has risen to about 90 percent, indicating a deep economic crisis in the country. The recent sanctions will clearly have more negative impacts on Iran's economic situation and put pressure on its government.

Additionally, the Turkey-based service group Fugo has also been targeted due to its ongoing support for Iran's heavily sanctioned aviation sector. These sanctions clearly demonstrate the U.S. determination to limit Iran's economic activities and ensure that no entity from outside the country assists the Iranian regime.

Given the current circumstances and the new sanctions, various reactions are expected from Iran and the countries cooperating with it. Furthermore, these sanctions could impact the trade relations between India and Turkey with the United States and lead to challenges in this regard.
