The Oman Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) has launched coverage request services on a trial basis within the framework of the quality system. This electronic service enables all provinces of Oman to submit and track requests related to telecommunications services through a unified electronic pathway. The aim of this initiative is to expedite the processing of requests, improve planning levels, and support data-driven decision-making.
Standardization Mechanism for Requests
This service standardizes the submission mechanism for coverage requests and regulates their flow between provinces and the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority. Additionally, it allows requests to be compared with previous or ongoing requests in the same location and neighboring areas, monitors duplicate or similar cases, and ensures the existence of ongoing or future projects or programs related to the location. Ultimately, requests are classified according to their type and needs, and an appropriate processing pathway is determined for them.

New Features and Capabilities
The coverage request service allows requests to be submitted electronically, specifying their type, needs, and location. It also provides the ability to track the completion level and progress of requests. This service displays data related to the geographical area of the request and helps form a more comprehensive view of the needs of the provinces. TRA staff will also benefit from a dedicated interface for reviewing and processing requests.
Requests that can be submitted through this service include the establishment of new communication stations, improvement or enhancement of telecommunications network coverage and internet services, provision of 5G services, relocation or removal of communication stations, and expansion of fiber optic networks. Additionally, reports related to vandalism, destruction, or obstacles to establishing communication stations and any other requests related to telecommunications services are also covered.
It is noteworthy that the coverage request service uses artificial intelligence technologies to perform initial analyses immediately after submission and links it with existing technical and geographical data. Currently, this service focuses on provinces, and its scope of operation will expand in the future to government entities, economic and logistical areas, and other relevant entities.
