The Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources of Oman today signed four investment agreements to implement specialized projects in the areas of commercial and coastal fishing, fish processing, fish canning, and recycling fishing nets. These agreements, worth 13.39 million Omani Rials, are part of the ministry's efforts to strengthen the position of the fisheries sector as a promising economic pillar.

Development of Fisheries Industries and Food Security

The aforementioned agreements are also designed to expand the investment base, maximize the added value of fisheries resources, and develop downstream industries. These initiatives support the food security plan and enhance the contribution of this sector to economic diversification and sustainable development. In fact, investment in this sector can lead to the creation of new jobs and improve the quality of life in coastal communities.

Signing of Agreements by Senior Officials

These agreements were signed by Engineer Yaqoob Khalfan Al-Busaidi, Deputy Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources of Oman for Fisheries. This senior representative of the ministry emphasized that these contracts reflect Oman's serious commitment to improving and sustainably developing the fisheries sector. Given Oman's rich marine resources, the country is striving to optimally utilize its capabilities and contribute to economic prosperity in this field.

Moreover, these agreements can serve as a model for other countries in the Gulf region in strengthening economic cooperation and sharing successful experiences in the fisheries sector. Considering the environmental challenges and the need to monitor natural resources, attention to sustainable and innovative methods in the fisheries industry is of great importance.
