Oman's Optimizer National Team Arrives in Jeddah for the 2026 Arab Rowing Championship

Oman's Optimizer National Team, composed of five talented young rowers, has arrived in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, to represent the country in the 2026 Arab Rowing Championship - Optimizer. This competition will be held from September 17 to 21 at the Jeddah Rowing Center located on the shores of the Red Sea, gathering young talents from 11 participating countries including Algeria, Bahrain, Egypt, Iraq, Kuwait, Libya, Morocco, Sudan, Tunisia, as well as the host Saudi Arabia and the Oman team.

Competitive Opportunities and Cultural Exchange

This event, organized by the Saudi Rowing Federation under the supervision of the Arab Rowing Federation, is considered a vital platform for high-level competitions and cultural exchange at the regional level.

Team Members and Their Goals

The members of the Oman team include Khalid Yahya Al-Sarahi, Mohammed Suleiman Al-Bloushi, Mohammed Ziad Al-Qasimi, Al-Khalil Ibrahim Al-Fouri, and Elias Maher Al-Khudhari. This group is competing under the leadership of Sultan Abdulaziz Al-Zajali, the coach and team leader. Sultan Al-Zajali, a youth coach, stated: “Our rowers have trained hard and have reached the necessary fitness level throughout the season. The Arab Championship - Optimizer is a great opportunity for this young group to test their tactical skills and speed against the best young rowers in the region. They are focused, determined, and ready to deliver a strong performance for Oman in Jeddah.”

Furthermore, Oman’s representative signals a strong showcase of their technical expertise in the regional rowing community. Nawaf Al-Ghadani, one of the team officials, has been selected as the competition organizer for the Optimizer team events. Nawaf Al-Ghadani, Vice President of Rowing Schools, added: “My selection as the competition organizer for Optimizer is a great honor. Being involved in technical management and supporting our youth program reflects the trust and growing reputation of Oman Sail.”

After the competitions in Saudi Arabia, the team will return home to prepare for the fifteenth week of the Musanfa competitions, which will take place from October 15 to 22, 2026, and will once again face top international competitions.

Oman Sail's commitment to developing Omani youth through sports goes beyond rowing and focuses on providing lifelong learning and leadership development opportunities, where skills learned on the water can be applied to various positions. By creating this platform for Omani youth to represent the country at regional and international levels, Oman Sail continues to leverage sports in line with Oman’s 2040 strategic vision.
