The book ‘Avventurevolissimevolmente’ by Dr. Luca Mortia and Dr. Lucia Oliva is a collection of captivating stories gathered over more than 25 years of travel, work, and meeting various people across different continents. This book is not only a memoir nor a traditional travel book, but rather an intimate look at the lives of two individuals who have lived at the intersection of art, culture, and human curiosity.
Oman, a Part of the Authors' Life Story
Among all the places depicted in these stories, Oman holds a special place. Mortia and Oliva have lived in the Sultanate of Oman for about a decade, making it their home while continuing to build bridges with the cultural world of Italy and Europe. Their book reflects this unique position, portraying Oman not as transient visitors, but from the perspective of those who have stayed long enough to establish deep connections with the country and its people.

The Challenge of Translation and Organizing Events
This connection now takes the book beyond Italy. After a successful tour last summer, the authors have begun working on the English translation of the book. They have undertaken this task influenced by the feedback the book has received in Italy and beyond, especially in Oman. The title of the book, ‘Avventurevolissimevolmente’, is a playful Italian invention by the authors that is deliberately extravagant and echoes literary references to the Baroque literature of Francesco Moneti and further back to Dante Alighieri.
The book has been presented in unconventional venues. The recent tour of the Italians began with a special event in Milan at the ADI Design Museum, then continued to Liguria and Gubbio, and finally reached Sicily. In Alicudi, one of the remote volcanic islands, the traditional rules of book launches were completely set aside. This event took place in a natural amphitheater by the sea, where attendees gathered among the rocks and pebbles while Mortia and Oliva conducted a ‘literary sunset by the sea’ while standing in the water.
At this event, well-known figures from the Italian cinema and theater world were present, including famous actors such as Mascia Musso and Rada Rasimo, and producer Andrea Anderman, whose operatic-film productions have won seven Emmy Awards.
These events also continued in Palermo, held at the Palazzo Branciforte. The history of Palermo makes it a fitting city for a book centered around cultural interactions. Greeks, Arabs, Normans, Byzantines, and Spaniards have all played a role in the history of this Sicilian capital.
