Qatar and Kyrgyzstan signed agreements to strengthen trade and investment relations between the two countries. These agreements were signed after discussions and a visit by a Kyrgyz delegation to the Qatar Chamber of Commerce, by Mohammed bin Ahmed bin Tawar Al-Kuwari, First Vice Chairman of the Qatar Chamber of Commerce, and Avazbek Karimbaev, Vice Chairman of the Kyrgyz Chamber of Commerce.

Establishment of a New Business Council

Mohammed bin Ahmed bin Tawar Al-Kuwari announced at the ceremony that the new Business Council provides an opportunity for information exchange and exploring business opportunities between the two countries. He also proposed holding virtual meetings between business representatives to identify investment opportunities and joint collaborations.

The ceremony was attended by high-ranking officials from both countries, including Mohammed bin Jawhar Al Mohammed, a member of the board of directors of the Qatar Chamber of Commerce, Myrimbek Keuichomanov, Deputy Director General of the Kyrgyz National Investment Agency, and Aibek Toktobolotov, Ambassador of Kyrgyzstan to Qatar.

Qatar's Investment Opportunities in Central Asia

Mohammed bin Jawhar Al Mohammed stated at the ceremony that the private sector in Qatar is interested in expanding its cooperation with international markets, especially in Central Asia. He identified the solar energy, infrastructure, agriculture, and livestock sectors as promising areas for cooperation with Kyrgyzstan.

Kyrgyz officials also expressed their interest in strengthening economic relations with Qatar, particularly in the fields of construction and infrastructure development. Avazbek Karimbaev stated that Kyrgyzstan is looking to increase agricultural exports to the Qatari market and attract more investment to expand trade between the two countries. He added that these agreements would help strengthen trade relations, facilitate trade, and encourage mutual investment.

These agreements are based on over a decade of cooperation between the two chambers of commerce. According to the Qatari Embassy in Bishkek, the Qatar Chamber of Commerce and its Kyrgyz counterpart signed a memorandum of understanding in March 2012, and another cooperation agreement was signed in December 2014.
