Qatar, aiming to support families affected by the crisis in Ukraine, successfully reunited 87 Ukrainian children with their families. This action is part of the country's diplomatic and humanitarian efforts to assist the people of Ukraine in wartime conditions.

Qatar's humanitarian aid to Ukraine

Maryam bint Ali Al-Misnad, Minister of State for International Cooperation at the Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs, announced at the second international conference on the return of Ukrainian children and detained civilians that the country has allocated 100 million dollars for humanitarian response to Ukraine. This aid includes vital sectors such as health and medical care, education, and essential services.

Al-Misnad also emphasized that the protection of civilians and children should be at the center of international initiatives. According to her, these 87 children were reunited with their families through 14 different operations carried out by Qatar's mediation and humanitarian efforts and in coordination with the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC).

Other support from Qatar to Ukraine

In addition to diplomatic efforts, Qatar has hosted several reunited families and provided special rehabilitation and support programs for their physical and mental health. The country has also financed projects for the protection of children, including a project worth 3.5 million dollars for the construction and equipping of safe shelters, schools, and kindergartens.

Qatar has also allocated 20 million dollars to the Ukrainian grain export initiative and provided 50 university scholarships for Ukrainian students. Furthermore, 5 million dollars have been spent to support refugees and internally displaced persons, and partnerships have been established with the Olena Zelenska Foundation for the reconstruction of vital health facilities.

Al-Misnad emphasized that humanitarian and development aid are the main pillars of Qatar's foreign policy, and these policies complement the country's diplomatic efforts to reduce tensions and alleviate human suffering globally.
