The design for the revival of traditional architecture and urbanism at Persian Gulf University of Bushehr has begun with the goal of enhancing the harmony between humans and the climate. This project examines and introduces the unique features of traditional architecture in different parts of the country, including Yazd and the shores of the Persian Gulf.
Traditional Architecture and Climate Adaptation
In the desert city of Yazd, architectural masterpieces maintain temperatures 10 to 15 degrees cooler than the surrounding environment through specific designs. This demonstrates the high capabilities of traditional architecture in adapting to climatic conditions and the needs of human life. Meanwhile, on the shores of the Persian Gulf, we witness the peak of human harmony with the climate; a place where beautiful and functional buildings have been constructed using local stones and natural materials.
The Importance of Reviving Traditional Architecture
This project at Persian Gulf University of Bushehr is considered an important step towards the revival of traditional architecture and urbanism. Given the climatic changes and the need to adapt to the environment, reviving this type of architecture can contribute to sustainable development and the preservation of cultural identity. This project is especially significant in conditions where various regions of the country face environmental challenges.
The different sections of this project include research on traditional construction methods, promoting and teaching skills related to this type of architecture to students, and collaborating with architects and urban planning experts. It is hoped that these efforts will strengthen Iran's cultural and historical identity and also be effective in sustainable development and modernizing cities.
Ultimately, the revival of traditional architecture and urbanism not only helps preserve cultural heritage but can also serve as a source of inspiration for contemporary architects. Therefore, Persian Gulf University of Bushehr intends to facilitate education and research in this field by organizing seminars and workshops.
