Saudi Arabia has recently announced that following the shutdown of its key oil pipeline due to a drone attack, it intends to quickly rebuild this line. According to available information, the national oil company of Saudi Arabia, Aramco, is working to bypass the damaged section of this pipeline, thereby achieving about half of its full capacity.

Details of the Incident and Aramco's Actions

On Friday, Saudi Arabia's East-West oil pipeline was shut down due to a drone attack. This pipeline, which plays a crucial role in transporting crude oil from oil fields in eastern Saudi Arabia to the western coast, has been severely damaged. Aramco, the state oil company of Saudi Arabia, is currently assessing the extent of the damage and planning for the repair and reconstruction of this pipeline.

According to reports, Aramco hopes to restore this pipeline to half of its capacity within a few days and aims to return to full capacity in about six weeks. This action could help mitigate the negative impacts on the oil market and global prices.

Challenges and Reconstruction Timeline

However, the timeline for reconstruction heavily depends on the extent of damage to the pumps and pumping stations. Analysts believe that due to the destruction of pumping stations, the reconstruction of the pipeline may take longer than six weeks. Adne Lohmann Rasmussen, a senior analyst and head of research at a risk management firm, stated that while partial reopening may occur sooner than expected, returning to full capacity will require more time.

As one of the largest oil producers in the world, Saudi Arabia is constantly under international and regional pressures to maintain stability in the oil market. The country is also striving to manage emerging crises to maintain its position in global markets.

It should also be noted that this incident could have widespread implications for the global oil market, and if further problems arise, oil prices may be affected. Therefore, Aramco and the Ministry of Energy of Saudi Arabia must carefully address this situation to prevent any disruption in oil supply.
