Ahmed bin Hamad al-Khalili, the Mufti of the Sultanate of Oman, on Sunday called on Muslims around the world to rush to aid the Palestinians following devastating floods in the Gaza Strip. This request came in the wake of heavy rainfall and the extensive damage inflicted on the homes and lives of the people of Gaza.
Sympathy for the People of Gaza
Al-Khalili stated in a statement published on his account on the platform "X": "We have received news that our brothers in Gaza have been harmed due to the heavy rainfall and the devastating floods that have swept through their homes; we sympathize with them in this calamity and ask Almighty God to alleviate their crisis, ease their hardships, and relieve their suffering."

Call for Financial Assistance
He also called on Muslims to rush to assist the victims with their wealth and to hasten in providing aid to them. Al-Khalili emphasized that all Muslims should stand by their Palestinian brothers during this difficult time and, with empathy and solidarity, work to alleviate their suffering.
On Saturday, the media office of the government in Gaza announced that within 12 hours of the onset of a low-pressure weather system, 70,000 tents had been provided for the flooded displaced persons, and dozens of walls had collapsed. This situation has led to injuries among several people and an initial direct damage of approximately 3 million dollars. Since Friday evening, the low-pressure weather system, accompanied by heavy rain and strong winds, has swept through the Gaza Strip, exacerbating the suffering of thousands of displaced individuals living in dilapidated tents without heating and protection from rain and cold.
According to previous data from the media office of the government, more than 2 million and 150 thousand displaced persons are living in dire conditions, among whom nearly 867 thousand are in dilapidated tents and over one million are in shelters. The genocidal war by the Israeli regime since October 7, 2023, has caused widespread destruction in various areas of Gaza, highlighting the urgent need for reconstruction and temporary housing.
