Preserving Kuwaiti Heritage and Creating New Opportunities
Sheikh Bibi also emphasized the importance of this initiative as part of the Association's mission to preserve Kuwaiti heritage, support traditional handicrafts, and pass them on to future generations. This project provides new opportunities for women artists to showcase their skills and strengthen their presence in the cultural and artistic scene of Kuwait. She highlighted the opportunity to display this work in Al-Shahid Park, stating that this action helps introduce the beauty of handicrafts to visitors and emphasizes their role as a living and evolving expression of Kuwait's national identity.
This installation represents a collective artistic experience where weaving circles of diverse colors and shapes create a suspended composition. This arrangement interacts with light, shadow, and space, reflecting the spirit of collaboration and creativity among the participating women artists. The work is inspired by Kuwait's maritime heritage and draws from the traditional "Dain" basket structure used by divers to collect shells during pearl diving trips. The art installation, with a contemporary approach to the structure of loops, knots, and intertwined elements of the basket, establishes a connection between the country's public memories and its maritime traditions with modern creative expression.
