The Sultanate of Oman has successfully secured the right to host the 23rd Global Wind Energy Conference in 2027. This selection reflects Oman's progress in renewable energy and its desire to expand wind energy projects and diversify its energy resource mix.

Effective Steps for Renewable Energy Development

This conference will be hosted by Nama Company for Energy and Water Purchase, supported by the Ministry of Energy and Minerals, and in collaboration with the Global Wind Energy Council. This event will provide an opportunity to showcase advancements in wind energy projects and related investment opportunities in Oman. Policymakers, industry leaders, investors, developers, researchers, and renewable energy experts from around the world will gather to discuss the future of wind energy and introduce projects and investment opportunities.

Emphasis on Energy Diversity and Security

Mohsen bin Hamad Al-Hadhrami, the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Energy and Minerals of Oman, emphasized that hosting the Global Wind Energy Conference in 2027 is an achievement that reflects the international community's trust in Oman's vision and its advancements in renewable energy development. He also referred to the planned objectives in Oman's 2040 vision, stating that the Ministry of Energy and Minerals is working on developing a diverse and flexible energy mix, enhancing energy security, and creating a conducive environment for investment in renewable energy projects.

He added that the renewable energy project roadmap includes 19 projects and packages of solar and wind energy projects by 2032, of which 13 will be solar projects and 6 will be wind projects. The total planned capacity for wind energy exceeds 4000 megawatts, indicating the scale and targets for development in the coming periods.

This development is not limited to adding new electricity generation capacities but leads to the creation of an integrated system that helps attract investments and technologies, develops value chains, and enhances national infrastructure readiness and capabilities. This will contribute to increasing the economic value of the energy sector and strengthening its competitiveness and sustainability in the long term.

Hosting this conference provides an international platform for knowledge and experience exchange, technology transfer, supporting innovation, and creating partnerships that will help accelerate the development of wind and renewable energy in the Sultanate of Oman.

Mythaa bint Saif Al-Mahrouqi, the Ambassador of the Sultanate of Oman in Germany, also referred to the trust of the Global Wind Energy Council and its partners in Oman to host this conference, noting that this selection reflects Oman's position as a reliable partner for investment and international cooperation. She also highlighted the rich wind energy resources and the expansion of solar energy projects in Oman, emphasizing that developments in the energy sector require international cooperation and knowledge exchange.
