The Sultanate of Oman, representing the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth, attended the press conference related to the Sharjah International Book Fair, which will be held from November 4 to 15, 2026. In this conference, Ahmed bin Saud Al-Rawahi, the Director General of Knowledge and Cultural Development at the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth, discussed the significance of this event and the cultural relations between Oman and the UAE.

Oman and UAE Relations: A Cultural and Historical Bond

The Director General of Knowledge and Cultural Development described the selection of the Sultanate of Oman as the guest of honor for this edition of the fair as a "natural extension" of the deep and historical relations between Oman and the UAE. He stated that these relations have been strengthened by shared human and cultural values as well as mutual interests. The cooperation between the two countries is recognized as an example of human and cultural relations at the regional level.

Oman's Cultural and Literary Programs at the Fair

Al-Rawahi further referred to the diversity of cultural programs that Oman will present at this fair. He announced that these programs will include literary sessions, intellectual dialogues, and cultural and historical programs. The aim of these programs is to introduce Oman's rich history and culture and to create a space for cultural exchange between Oman and the UAE.

The Sultanate of Oman will participate in this fair with 28 cultural activities, including poetry readings, literary sessions, and workshops for youth and children. This fair provides an opportunity for Omani writers, literati, artists, and cultural activists to showcase the diversity and richness of their country's culture.

Oman's pavilion at this fair will showcase the history of this country's maritime heritage and its cultural implications. This pavilion will introduce Oman's cultural and artistic achievements, including an exhibition of intellectual and literary works. The aim of this exhibition is to illustrate the depth and richness of Oman's cultural heritage and emphasize its role in regional cultural developments.

The Sharjah International Book Fair, considering the participation of 6 government institutions and 4 non-governmental institutions from Oman, will become one of the most important cultural events in the region. At this fair, 17 Omani publishers and libraries will also present their works, and various cultural programs, including daily artistic performances and music, will be held.
