The United States government, led by President Donald Trump, believes that his tariff policies have helped bring manufacturing jobs and factories back to the country. In a recent speech in Texas, Trump highlighted the importance of supporting domestic markets and mentioned the increase in production in the automotive industry as a sign of the success of these policies.
Increase in Production and Employment
Trump stated in his remarks: "We are building more factories, and this process is going better than ever in our country's history. Across the country, factories are being built, and industry is coming back to America." He also referred to the increase in industrial jobs, saying: "This year, the United States has created 60,000 new jobs in manufacturing, and heavy truck production has increased by nearly 31%."

Positive Effects of Tariffs
Trump emphasized that import tariffs have effectively prevented foreign goods from entering the U.S. market and have helped local workers. He said: "They were bringing their products here and leaving with money, and you were becoming unemployed. But with me, this has changed." He also pointed to a significant reduction in the trade deficit with China, adding: "Our trade deficit with China has reached its lowest level in 44 years."
Trump also mentioned the increase in national exports, stating: "This year, U.S. exports have reached the highest level in history. This is due to our strong tariff policies." Peterbilt's events manager, Sara Renshaw, told Trump that tariffs have helped the company increase its production and hire 1,000 new employees.
Finally, Trump referred to the connection between the performance of this industry and the government's decision to roll back environmental regulations related to heavy vehicles, stating: "This action alone can reduce the cost of every truck made by up to $6,000 and produce a better truck." Trump emphasized that his tariff policies are considered one of the main pillars of his economic and trade agenda and referred to them as a tool for protecting domestic production and encouraging businesses to operate in the country.
