Zakaria Al-Amri, the Omani rally driver, achieved second place in the RC2 class during the fourth stage of the Middle East Rally Championship (MERC), which took place over three days in Lebanon. This success allows him to remain at the top of the MERC 2 class standings with two stages remaining in Cyprus and Saudi Arabia.
Tough Competitions and Existing Challenges
Zakaria Al-Amri and his co-driver, Mohammed Al-Mazrouei, scored higher with their Subaru Impreza (N14) in this stage, strengthening their position in the class standings. This stage, held on asphalt roads near Beirut, witnessed intense competition due to the absence of Qatari driver Nasser Al-Atybah and young Omani champion Abdullah Al-Rawahi for various reasons. Among them, the rivalry between Lebanese driver Roger Feghali and Saudi driver Basel Abuhamdan was particularly exciting, with Roger ultimately claiming the championship title.

Regarding his participation in this rally, Zakaria Al-Amri stated: “First, I would like to thank everyone for the excellent organization and for ensuring the safety of the participants. I am happy to have achieved second place in the class here in Lebanon, despite the difficult conditions and the asphalt roads that differ from other stages in the Middle East. As I have said before, our goal is to win the MERC 2 class title by the end of this year, and we are striving to maintain my lead in this class for the remaining stages. Our aim is to participate in the remaining stages, and we hope to compete in all of them. I would also like to thank the technical team and all the colleagues who supported us. Additionally, I thank the Ambassador of the Sultanate of Oman in Beirut for his personal presence at the rally and for watching the competitions; this is a source of moral support for us as competitors. I also want to commend Dr. Mohammed bin Sulayman, President of the International Automobile Federation (FIA), for attending the rally, supporting this event, and presenting awards to the competitors.”
This success of Zakaria Al-Amri in Lebanon reflects his determination and will to achieve victory in the remaining stages and compete at an international level. With two remaining stages in Cyprus and Saudi Arabia ahead, the competitions are expected to reach their peak, and drivers will come to the field with all their might.
